UW-Oshkosh Finishes Pool Play at MIVA Championships Undefeated (3-26-16)
UW-Oshkosh finished the first day of the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association undefeated by beating three ranked opponents and one other team on Saturday (March 26) in West Lafayette, Indiana on the campus of Purdue University.
UW-Oshkosh, ranked 3rd in the latest National Collegiate Volleyball Federation poll, beat host #8 Purdue University, 25-20, 26-24, #7 University of Minnesota 23-25, 25-9, 15-12, Grand Valley State University, 25-9, 25-14 and #14 The Ohio State University 25-20, 25-12.
Allen Grunert (Jr. – Muskego) led the Titans at the net with seven kills and two blocks and Michael Wamboldt (Jr. – Kenosha) topped the team in the backcourt with 12 digs against the Boilermakers. Travis Hudson (Sr. – Wauwatosa) provided 23 assists, two service aces and three blocks and Tyler Range (Sr. – Kenosha)had six kills and six blocks. Wesley Morioka (Sr. – Chicago, Ill.) tallied six kills and four digs and Eaven Mason (Fr. – Milwaukee) had five kills on six swings.
Grunert once against led the Titans against the Golden Gophers with 11 kills on 20 attempts. Alec Redlich (Sr. – Wauwatosa) also added double-digit kills with 10 on 15 attempts and amassed four blocks. Hudson totaled 28 assists, six digs and three blocks and Wamboldt had nine digs.
