Titans Continue Undefeated Season in WVC (2-29-16)
The UW-Oshkosh Men's Volleyball team traveled to Michigan Tech University for the first time in history and came away with a 25-13, 25-19, 25-19 victory over the host Huskies and a 25-19, 25-11, 25-22 non-conference win over UW-Eau Claire on Saturday (Feb. 27) in Houghton, Michigan.
UW-Oshkosh (23-3 / 9-0 WVC), ranked #7 in the latest National Collegiate Volleyball Federation Division I poll, remained the only undefeated team in the WVC as they seek their eighth straight regular season conference title.
Tyler Range (Sr. - Kenosha) and Alec Redlich (Sr. - Wauwatosa) led the Titans on offense with seven kills each. Sammy Pedersen (Jr. - Muskego) added six kills and Allen Grunert (Jr. - Muskego) had five.
Travis Hudson (Sr. - Wauwatosa) dished out 36 assists and added six digs and four blocks. Sam Moua (Jr. - Appleton) led the team with nine digs and Range topped the squad with three service aces. Redlich and Pedersen each had two service aces as the Titans recorded nine total in the match.
The Titans block took over in the match against the Blugolds as the team has 13 total, led by Range who had a career-high nine stuffs. Hudson added five blocks and Grunert chipped in four in the sweep.
In a balanced attack, Range led the team with seven kills followed by Wesley Morioka (Sr. - Chicago, Ill.) and Redlich with six and Hudson with five. Hudson distributed 27 assists and Michael Wamboldt (Jr. - Pleasant Prairie) and Moua each had seven digs.
Pedersen continued to put up huge numbers from the service line with six aces. UW-Eau Claire came into the match as the #1 team ranked in the NCVF Division II.
Next up for the Titans is a 8:00 p.m. match against UW-Whitewater on Wednesday, March 2nd on the road.
