UW-Oshkosh II Dominates Opening WVC Division II Play Date (2-7-16)
In search of their 14th straight regular season Wisconsin Volleyball Conference Division II regular season conference title, the UW-Oshkosh II team got off to a fast start by sweeping all four of its opponents on Saturday (February 6) in Oshkosh.
The Titans dominated Concordia University Wisconsin 25-6, 25-8, 25-10, Carroll University II 25-15, 25-14, 25-17, Carroll University 25-15, 25-16, 25-8 and Maranatha Baptist University 25-13, 25-12, 25-13. The Titans outscored their opponents 300-147 in the four matches.
In their opening match against Concordia University Wisconsin the Titans has 35 kills on a .442 hitting percentage. Tony Mack (Jr. - Muskego) led the team with 10 kills on 12 attempts for a mind-numbing .833 hitting percentage. Michael Starzec (Sr. - Buffalo Grove, Ill.) added seven kills, Mitch Lahmann (Sr. - Wauwatosa) six kills and Sammy Pedersen (Jr. - Muskego) had five put aways. Adam Landgraf (Sr. - Kenosha) dished out 30 assists and led the team with six digs. Braeden Melton (Sr. - Beloit) and Mack had four blocks to pace the Titans and Starzec added three stuffs. Eli Miller (Fr. - Burlington) and Landgraf topped the team with three service aces each.
The UW-Oshkosh II offense was crisp in their match against Carroll University II with 37 kills in 73 attempts. Mack once again led the Titans with 12 kills and had two solo blocks. Steve Cotton (Jr. - Muskego), Lahmann, Melton and Pedersen each had five kills and Pedersen added two service aces and two blocks. Alex Harty (Jr. - Racine) picked up five digs and Landgraf fined tuned the offense with 28 assists. Melton had three blocks, including two solo stuffs.
UW-Oshkosh II slammed down 39 kills on a .639 hitting percentage in the victory over Carroll University II. Mack once again reached double-digit kills with 11 put aways and Lahmann and Melton each had nine kills. Landgraf generated 32 assists and Harty scooped up eight digs. Melton and Mack each had four blocks and Mack paced the team with four service aces. Cotton added six digs and Pedersen and Starzec tallied two service aces. The Titans had 11 service aces and 25 digs in the match.
The Titans slammed home 15 service aces, including four by Lahmann in the rout of Maranatha Baptist University. Lahmann and Pedersen led the team with six kills, while Mack and Starzec each had five kills. Landgraf once again paced the Titans with 26 assists and Jake Martin (Fr. - New Lenox, Ill.) had five digs and two service aces. Cotton and Melton each tacked on three total blocks and Starzec added a solo block.
