UW-Oshkosh Welcomes Michigan Tech to WVC with 3-0 Sweep (1-30-16)
The UW-Oshkosh men's volleyball team started off its defense of the Wisconsin Volleyball Conference regular season title with WVC newcomer Michigan Tech University with a 25-18, 25-14, 25-14 win on Friday (January 29) in Oshkosh. It was the Titans home opener.
UW-Oshkosh (10-0/1-0 WVC) has won the last seven regular season WVC titles and starts the 2016 campaign ranked #2 in the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation Division I poll after capturing the national title last season.
Tyler Range (Sr. - Kenosha) led the Titans with 14 kills on 17 attempts for a .647 hitting percentage. Transfer Alec Redlich (Sr. - Wauwatosa) provided eight kills and six digs and Michael Wamboldt (Jr. - Pleasant Prairie) and Devin Hudson (Fr. - Wauwatosa) had two service aces.
Travis Hudson (Sr. - Wauwatosa) dished out 32 assists and Wesley Morioka (Sr. - Chicago, Ill.) scooped up six digs. Devin Hudson, John Collins (Fr. - New Berlin) and Eaven Mason (Fr. - Milwaukee) each had five kills.
The Titans had a slow night blocking with only two solo stuffs, one each by Redlich and Hudson. UW-Oshkosh finished with seven service aces and 17 digs.
