UW-Oshkosh Wins Own Invitational (1-31-16)
The UW-Oshkosh men’s volleyball team won its own invitational by going 4-0, including winning two matches in the deciding third set to remain undefeated on the season. The Titans improved to 10-0 on the season after claiming the UW-Oshkosh Invitational on Saturday (January 30) in Kolf Sports Center.

In its opening pool the Titans took care of business again Northwestern University 25-16, 25-18 and UW-Whitewater II 25-9, 25-20. Against the Wildcats Devin Hudson (Fr. – Wauwatosa) led the team with five kills and six other Titans has at least two put aways as they racked up 25 kills in the two sets.

Travis Hudson (Sr. – Wauwatosa) had 20 assists, four digs and three blocks and Michael Wamboldt (Jr. – Pleasant Prairie) led the team with six digs. Eaven Mason (Fr. – Milwaukee) finished the match with three blocks.

John Collins (Fr. – New Berlin) and Allen Grunert (Jr. – Muskego) led the team with five kills against Warhawks. Grunert tallied a career-high six service aces, including three straight when the Titans were trailing 12-8 in the second set. Alec Redlich (Sr. – Wauwatosa) provided five digs and Devin Hudson added four kills, 10 assists and three digs.

In the opening round of the second pool UW-Oshkosh survived 24-26, 25-18, 15-12 against a fired up UW-Oshkosh II squad. Wesley Morioka (Sr. – Chicago, Ill.) provided a match high 11 kills and Grunert and Redlich each had nine kills. Travis Hudson had 29 assists and five digs and Wamboldt paced the Titans with eight digs. Morioka had six digs and four blocks and Collins and Redlich each had one service ace.

In the second match of the three team pool the Titans once again lost the first set only to turn things around to defeat #5 ranked UW-Milwaukee 22-25, 25-6, 15-11. Redlich topped the team with nine kills, followed by Morioka with eight and Grunert with five on only seven attempts.

Wamboldt provided 10 digs and Redlich added four service aces and seven digs. Tyler Range (Sr. – Kenosha) had three blocks and Travis Hudson dished out 23 assists. The Titans hit .769 in the second set.
