Oshkosh III Wins Sixth Match in a Row (2-20-13)
The UW-Oshkosh III men's volleyball team extended its current winning streak to six matches with a 25-16, 25-21, 25-21 non-conference win over Northland International University on Tuesday (Feb.19) in Kolf Sports Center.
UW-Oshkosh III (7-3; 4-0 WVC II), who beat Northland International University in conference play in five sets earlier in the season relied on nine service aces in the three set sweep.
The Titans dominated the open set behind four kills by Patrick Philips (Sr. - Delafield) and three kills by Sam Picchietti (Fr.- Lake Paddock) and Joe Lesko (Fr. - Brookfield). The set was tied at 15-15 before Lesko rattled off eight straight serves to push UW-Oshkosh III ahead 23-18.
The Titans offense also dominated in the second set as Phillips, Picchietti, Lesko and Josh Preiss (Fr. - New Berlin) each had three kills. Consistency at the net remained the same in the final stanza as Stuart Buckhart (Fr. - Wauwatosa), Lesko, Picchietti and Preiss each had three kills. Buckart added three service aces.
Lesko and Picchietti led UW-Oshkosh III with nine kills. Phillips and Preiss added seven kills and Braeden Melton (Fr. - Brookfield) had six as the Titans had 43 total in the match. Chris Flood (Fr. - Appleton) topped the team with 22 assists and Alonso Amador (Fr. - Beloit) had 19 helpers. Buckhart and Lesko finished with three service aces each and Preiss led the team with two blocks.
