Oshkosh III Remains Undefeated in WVC Play (2-16-13)
The UW-Oshkosh III men's volleyball team improved to 4-0 in the Wisconsin Volleyball Conference Division II with a 25-15, 25-16, 25-9 victory over UW-Fond du Lac on Friday (Feb. 15) in Fond du Lac.
After falling behind 4-1 after three hitting errors in the first set, UW-Oshkosh III (6-3; 4-0 WVC II) found its rhythm at the net and coasted to the sweep. Sam Picchietti (Fr. - Paddock Lake) had three kills in the first set to lead the Titans. Jordan Berget (Sr. - New Richmond) and Stuart Buckart (Fr. - Wauwatosa) added three kills and Alonso Amador (Fr. - Beloit) pitched in two service aces.
Picchietti dominated the second set with six kills on six attempts as the Titans slammed down 15 as a team in the stanza. UW-Oshkosh picked up five service aces, including three by Berget, to close out the match. Picchietti led the Titans with 12 kills on 14 attempts. Chris Flood (Fr. - Appleton) added seven kills and topped the team with 20 assists. Berget totaled seven kills and led the Titans with four service aces and five digs. Buckart provided six kills, Amador dished out 14 assists and had three digs and two service aces and Flood and Braeden Melton (Fr. - Beloit) each had two blocks.
UW-Oshkosh III hosts Northland International University in a non-conference tilt on Tuesday (Feb.19) at 7:30 p.m. at Kolf Sports Center. The Titans then travel to Milwaukee to play Marquette University II on Thursday (Feb. 21) at 8:00 p.m. for a key WVC Division II match-up. UW-Oshkosh II leads the conference with a 6-0 record, followed by UW-Oshkosh III at 4-0 and then Marquette University II at 4-1.
