UW-Oshkosh II Has Three All-WVC First Team Selections (4-5-11)
Benefiting from winning the WVC Division II regular season conference title as well as the WVC state championship, the UW-Oshkosh II men's volleyball team won three WVC All-Conference awards announced after play concluded on Saturday (April 2) in Kolf Sports Center.

Despite a squad comprised entirely of players not on the Division II team last season, the Titans turned some heads by winning the WVC regular season with a 5-0 record and then going 5-0 at the WVC state championship. In one of the most entertaining WVC Division II finals in quite some time, the Titans survived a nail-biting three-set affair against Northland International University to pull off the sweep. The Titans finished the season with a 17-0 record against in-state competition.

Erik Harke (Fr. - Kimberly), a right side hitter, Andrew Nett, (Jr. - Fond du Lac) a middle blocker and Ryan Schultz (Sr. - Wauwatosa), a setter all received All-WVC Division II first team recognition. Schultz and Nett each collected one most valuable player vote and it was the first award for all three Titans. Micah Herron, a left side hitter from Northland International University was selected the WVC Division II most valuable player for the second straight year.

"Andrew was our go-to-player at the start of the season but by the end we were much more balanced offensively," said head coach Brian Schaefer. "I am especially happy for Ryan who did a great job of leading the team this season and for Andrew who had never played competitive volleyball before this season. His potential and improvement capabilities are limitless."

Since the WVC has been offering a Division II conference in 2003, the Titans have won nine consecutive WVC Division II regular season titles and have won six WVC Division II state championships, including four in a row from 2004-2007 and the last two campaigns.

"I can't say enough about the drive and togetherness this team had this season," added Schaefer. "There was so much uncertainty at the start of the year and through hard work this team did some amazing things. It was an honor to coach them and it will be exciting to see how they do at the NCVF Division III national championship."
