UW-Oshkosh II Net Muskies (3-31-11)
The UW-Oshkosh II men's volleyball team finished the regular season undefeated against teams in the state of Wisconsin by defeating Lakeland College II, 25-13, 25-21 in WVC non-conference action on Wednesday (March 30) in Sheboygan.
UW-Oshkosh (20-4-1) improved to 12-0 overall against WVC opponents, including a perfect 5-0 in conference action that led them to their 10th straight regular season conference title.
The Titans started off on fire at the net collecting 12 kills on a .526 hitting percentage in the first set. Chris Pokrzywa (Fr. - New Berlin) and Andrew Nett (Jr. - Fond du Lac) led the way with three kills each in the stanza.
Behind sloppy serve receive and untimely missed serves, the Titans found themselves trailing 20-17 before ending the second set on an 8-1 scoring run. Trailing 21-20, Ryan Schultz (Sr. - Wauwatosa) nailed down five straight points to give UW-Oshkosh the sweep.
Nett ended the match with eight kills on nine errorless attempts and Pokrzywa and Steve Brunelli (Jr. - Greenfield) each added six put downs. Marcus Taylor (Sr. - Elmhurst, Ill.) tallied seven digs and Pokrzywa picked up five and added two blocks. Will Brydon (Jr. - Northbrook, Ill.) led the team with three blocks and Brunelli and Erik Harke (Fr. - Kimberly) each had two. Ryan Schultz dished out 23 assists and piled up four service aces to pace the Titans in both categories.
