Shane Heyrman of Green Bay Joins Titans' Recruiting Class (2-2-11)
Shane Heyrman, a 6-6 left side hitter from Green Bay, Wisconsin has committed to playing for the UW-Oshkosh men's volleyball team, announced head coach Brian Schaefer. He becomes the sixth high school senior that has decided to wear a Titans uniform in the fall of 2011. Heyrman attends Green Bay Preble High School where he racked up WIAA All-state honorable mention and First-team Fox River Classic Conference honors his senior year while being mentored by head coach Brett Duffney. He was also named the Hornets most valuable player his junior and senior season. Shane has also dedicated himself in the classroom, being named to the high honor roll each of his first three years of high school. Besides volleyball, you can also see Shane on the tennis court, where he will earn varsity letters his junior and senior year. "UW-Oshkosh offers good academic programs and gives me the opportunity to play in a competitive volleyball environment," said Heyrman when asked why he decided to attend UW-Oshkosh. He currently plays club volleyball for Wisconsin Volleyball Academy under head coach Michael Voigt and is the son of Gerry and Karen Heyrman. He will study business administration at UW-Oshkosh. "Shane is a very tall, athletic left side hitter that can hit anywhere along the net," said Schaefer. "I believe that he is one of the best prep volleyball players in the state of Wisconsin and did not get more recognition because of where he played. I am excited to see how good he becomes when he is surrounded by great talent. I think he could be one of our best players ever."
