UW-Oshkosh Dots WIAA Record Books (11-25-06)
The UW-Oshkosh men's volleyball team is well represented by current and former members in the WIAA records book according to records taken since the 2000 season. In 1991, boys' volleyball again received WIAA recognition as a sponsored sport, and the championship tournament series resumed again in 2000.

Former UW-Oshkosh player James Bradley and current UW-Oshkosh member Nathan Sederberg (Jr. - Racine) are mentioned six times, current team member Aaron Wayne (Jr. - Waukesha) is on the list three times and former Titan Chris Nelson has two records mentioned. Current team members Danny Hessling (So. - Greenfield), David Rothering (Fr. - Burlington) and Andrew Sederberg (Sr. - Racine) and former player David Pautz have one record in the books.

Highlighting the records is Nathan Sederberg who is first with 25 kills in a four-game match against Marquette University High School, first with six service aces in a three-game match against Kaukauna High School and first with 11 total service aces in the tournament.

Nathan Sederberg is also second with 51 kill attempts in a four-game match against Marquette University High School, second with a .594 hitting percentage (19/0/32) in a three-game match against Kaukauna High School, second with four service aces in a four-game match against Marquette University High School and fourth with 19 kills in a three-game match against Kaukauna High School. All of Sederberg's records came in 2003 when he led Racine Horlick High School to the state title.

Bradley's highlights include being first with 25 kills in a four-game match against Kenosha Tremper High School, first with five service aces in a five-game match against Fort Atkinson High School and fourth with 14 digs in a four-game match against Kenosha Tremper High School.

For the entire tournament, Bradley sits third in both total service aces with seven and total digs with 33 and is fifth all-time with 130 total kill attempts. Bradley set his records in 2002 playing for Racine Case High School where the Panthers reached the championship match before losing to Marquette University High School.

Wayne, the Titans starting libero set all of his records in one match, ironically enough as a hitter. Wayne had 25 kills in 51 total attempts for a .451 hitting percentage (25/2/51) in a four-game match against Greenfield High School. Those marks place him first, second, and third on the records list, respectively. Wayne led Catholic Memorial High School to a runner-up finish at the state championship in 2003.

Nelson, who after playing two years with UW-Oshkosh went on to play for Loyola University (Ill.) sits third with 21 kills in a three-game match against Shorewood High School and second with four service aces in a five-game match against Pius XI High School. Nelson put his records up on the leader board with Racine Horlick High School in 2000.

Hessling set his record with Marquette University High School on the way to the 2004 state championship. Hessling sits third in hitting percentage in a three-game match when he hit .550 (15/4/20) against Racine Horlick High School.

Rothering tallied a second place result against Marquette University High School with three block solos in a three-game match playing for Burlington High School in 2005.

Andrew Sederberg, the best setter ever in the Wisconsin Volleyball Conference and Midwest Ten Conference set a record in 2000 when he had 49 assists in a four-game match against Shorewood High School. Sederberg played for Racine Horlick High School when his sixth place record was set.

Lastly, Pautz who played for Catholic Memorial High School set a first place result with five service aces in a four-game match against Fort Atkinson High School in 2000.

In 2006 the UW-Oshkosh men's volleyball team captured the NIRSA Division I national championship and went 56-1 on the season. The Titans also finished second in 2005 and fifth in 2003 and 2004. The Titans Division II team also competed at the NIRSA national championship taking home a runner-up finish in the NIRSA Division III portion of the tournament. The Titans had seven NIRSA All-Americans last season.

The records set by the UW-Oshkosh men's team were found in the WIAA boys volleyball state tournament program and do not reflect records that may have been set at the 2006 state tournament.
