Camp Heartland Donation (6-30-06)
The UW-Oshkosh men's volleyball team recently made a donation to Camp Heartland in the sum of $140.00. The organization, located in Wisconsin helps make the lives of kids with AIDS or HIV a little better, through a week long camp and other activities during the year.
During the year the men's team, with the assistance of former head volleyball coach Marty Petersen, ran eight concession stands at junior olympic volleyball tournaments. Players on the team collected donations throughout the day and the proceeds went directly to Camp Heartland.
The UW-Oshkosh men's volleyball team had a break out season this year finishing first at the NIRSA Division I national championship and won the Midwest Ten Conference title for the fourth year in a row.
"It is a great organization and the team decided that this was the best charity to donate to this year." said head coach Brian Schaefer. "Pizza Hut, one of our sponsors also supports Camp Heartland and that is how we found out about this program."
This is the third consecutive year that UW-Oshkosh has donated to Camp Heartland and has previously given money and time to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society. So far the UW-Oshkosh men's volleyball team has donated over $500.00 to Camp Heartland and $1,000.00 to OAHS.
