Oshkosh II Squeaks By Oshkosh III (4-5-06)
The UW-Oshkosh Division II men's volleyball team wrapped up its fourth consecutive junior varsity Wisconsin Volleyball Conference crown with a hard fought 25-19, 20-25, 17-15 win over UW-Oshkosh III in a match held on Wednesday (April 5) at Kolf Sports Center.

UW-Oshkosh II was paced by Nathan Malewiski (Jr. - New Franken) who had eight blocks and hit .700 for the match. Phil Brace (Sr. - Madison) and Dave Pautz (Sr. - New Berlin) each added six kills and Pautz and Jordan Jung (Sr. - Muskego) tallied four digs each. Brandon Kirkland (Sr. - Racine) dished out 28 assists and had five blocks.

UW-Oshkosh III, which had its five match winning streak snapped, was led by Kurt Breier (Jr. - Kimberly) with seven kills. Jim Hall (Fr. - Appleton) added six kills and three service aces and Tony Goebel (Fr. - Fond du Lac) had six kills. Brian Sigrist (Sr. - West Allis) dished out 23 assists and had two service aces.

UW-Oshkosh II finishes the regular season with a 20-1-1 (7-0 WVC) and UW-Oshkosh III tallied a 6-5 (2-5 WVC) count.

"This match indicates that anybody can beat anybody at anytime," said head coach Brian Schaefer. "Despite the loss this should give the Division III team some confidence heading into the WVC Championships this weekend."
