Oshkosh Teams Easily Handle Pointers (2-11-06)
The UW-Oshkosh men's volleyball team made short work of UW-Stevens Point (6-0/6-0 WVC) 30-12, 30-23, 30-26 in a game held on Friday (Feb. 10) in Stevens Point. The Titans, who are currently ranked #2 in the NIRDA Division I have now beaten the Pointers 25 straight times,
Leading the way for the Titans was James Bradley (So. - Racine) who had eight kills in two games played. Nathan Sederberg (So. - Racine) added five digs, two blocks and two service aces and Jordan Jung (Sr. - Muskego) collected five kills in only one game played.
Aaron Wayne (So. - Waukesha) scooped up five digs and Dave Pautz (Sr. - New Berlin) and Jeff Thomas (Sr. - Madison) had five kills. Andrew Sederberg (Sr. - Racine) added 24 assists and Brandon Kirkland (Sr. - Racine) dished out 13 assists. All13 varsity members played and the team had 15 blocks in the three game sweep.
The UW-Oshkosh III men's volleyball team improved to 5-4 on the year with a 30-19, 30-23, 30-22 drubbing of UW-Stevens Point II in a contest held on Friday (Feb. 10) in Stevens Point.
The first game was tied 17-17 before the Titans went on a 13-2 run to end the game. Mark Beck (Fr. - Kimberly) served eight straight points, including four service aces to spark UW-Oshkosh. The Titans won despite only hitting .067 in the game on only ten kills.
Games two and three were much the same as the two combatants remained close until scoring runs by the Titans after point 15 put the game out of reach for the Pointers. The Titans slammed down 20 kills in the third game.
Jim Hall (Fr. - Appleton) led UW-Oshkosh with 13 kills and added three service aces. Trenton Hazen (So. - Racine) pitched in nine kills and Josh Groh (Sr. - Menomonee Falls) added six kills and three blocks. Beck ended the contest with six service aces and Brian Sigrist (Sr. - West Allis) finished with 26 assists. Justin Sanders (Sr. - Pulaski) had a team high seven digs and Tony Goebel (Fr. - Fond du Lac) finished with six digs and nine assists.
