Oshkosh II Continues Streak (2-10-06)
The UW-Oshkosh II team remained undefeated on the year with a 30-23, 30-28 win over Marquette University II in a match held on Thursday (Feb. 9) in Milwaukee. With the victory UW-Oshkosh II improves to 7-0 on the year.
The Titans came out on fire building leads of 8-0 and 16-5 in game one before the Golden Eagles chipped away to make it a five point game at 28-23. UW-Oshkosh won the first game on two straight kills by Dave Pautz (Sr. - New Berlin).
The second game was tied seven times before UW-Oshkosh pulled out to a 19-14 advantage. The Golden Eagles responded by scoring five straight points to even the score at 19-19. Again UW-Oshkosh held another five-point lead at 26-21 before four straight hitting errors by the Titans allowed the Golden Eagles to inch to within 26-25. Brandon Weimann (Sr. - Racine) stopped the run with a kill and the Titans held on for the two game sweep.
Pautz and Weimann led the Titans with eight kills each and Nathan Malewiski (Jr. - New Franken) added seven kills. Jordan Jung (Sr. - Muskego) ended the match with seven digs and Brandon Kirkland (Sr. - Racine) dished out 31 assists and added four service aces.
