UW-Oshkosh II Starts 6-0 in Conference Play (2-6-06)
Familiarity remained the same at the Wisconsin Volleyball Conference junior varsity play date held Friday and Saturday (Feb. 3-4) as the top three teams from last year took top three honors again. UW-Oshkosh II, Marquette University II and Lakeland College II followed suit again this season but not without a fight from the other five conference teams as tight contests indicated how strong the WVC has developed.

UW-Oshkosh II took a big step in taking hold of its fourth straight regular season junior varsity title by going 6-0, including a 25-22, 21-25, 15-9 win over Marquette University II giving them their only loss in the two day event held at Albee Hall on the campus of UW-Oshkosh.

The Golden Eagles were taken to the three-game limit on two other occasions before prevailing and swept Lakeland College II 27-25, 25-21 to take home second place honors at 6-1. Marquette University, in a testament on how evenly matched the conference has become slipped by Northland Baptist Bible College 25-22, 24-26, 15-10 and UW-Oshkosh III 19-25, 25-16, 15-11.

Lakeland College took hold of third place by going 5-2 with their only losses being to the top two teams and collecting three game victories over Northland Baptist Bible College 24-26, 25-20, 15-12 and UW-Platteville II 25-21, 20-25, 15-13. The Muskies also edged UW-Oshkosh III 25-21, 25-22.

Northland Baptist Bible College proved they can play with anybody in the conference by taking first place UW-Oshkosh II to the limit before losing 25-20, 25-22 and losing to Lakeland College II and Marquette University II in three games.

UW-Platteville II also made some noise as it achieved its highest junior varsity win total in school history by beating UW-Stevens Point II in three games and sweeping UW-Oshkosh III and Northland Baptist Bible College II to finish 3-4.

With a little more experience the UW-Oshkosh III team could surprise some teams as they picked up wins over Northland Baptist Bible College II and UW-Stevens Point II and lost to Marquette University II in three-games. In the Titans other three losses, no game was decided by more than four points proving that UW-Oshkosh's depth could play a factor come WVC state championship time.

Northland Baptist Bible College II gained one win in its' inaugural appearance at the junior varsity play date by beating UW-Stevens Point 25-20, 25-18. They also hung around UW-Platteville II before losing 25-22, 25-19.

UW-Stevens Point remained winless despite forcing UW-Platteville II to three games. The Pointers were forced to play with only six players for the entire tournament and showed their toughness by narrowly losing to Northland Baptist Bible College 25-23, 25-22 and Lakeland College II 25-17, 25-23.
