UW-Oshkosh Pummels UW-Platteville (2-2-06)
The UW-Oshkosh men's volleyball team put on an offensive display in the first game and rolled to a 30-5, 30-22, 30-24 victory over UW-Platteville in a game held Wednesday (Feb. 1) in Kolf Sports Center. UW-Oshkosh entered the match ranked second in the NIRSA Division I and UW-Platteville ranked 11th in the NIRSA Division II.

The Titans stormed out to a 10-0 lead in game one behind four service aces from Andrew Sederberg (Sr. - Racine). James Bradley (So. - Racine) added five points on his serve and Nathan Sederberg (So. - Racine) ended the match with 10-straight points, including four on service aces in the mind boggling 25-point drubbing.

The Pioneers' only points of the game were off of Titans' missed serves as UW-Oshkosh hit an astonishing .941 percent connecting on 16 kills in 17 attempts without a hitting error. Jeff Thomas (Sr. - Madison) led the charge with nine kills in the opening stanza.

Seven UW-Oshkosh players recorded at least two kills each in game two to take a 2-0 lead in the match. After taking a 13-5 advantage, the Titans held at least an eight-point lead the rest of the game. Bradley, Nathan Sederberg, Matt Lewin and Thomas (Sr. - Cudahy) each had three kills in the game.

Game three was close to start as the teams were tied six times before UW-Oshkosh pulled out to a 19-14 advantage. The Titans withstood a late Pioneers run as they got to within 25-22 before settling for the six-point win and the three game sweep.

Dan Hessling (Fr. - Greenfield) came off the bench to total three kills and three service aces and Brandon Kirkland (Sr. - Racine) dished off 18 assists in the game. Phil Brace (Sr. - Madison), Jordan Jung (Sr. - Muskego), Nathan Malewiski (Jr. - New Franken) and Dave Pautz (Sr. - New Berlin) each had three kills in the clincher.

For the match Thomas led the Titans with 12 kills and Andrew Sederberg finished with 25 assists and five service aces, all in two games played. Nathan Sederberg finished with seven service aces and five kills in and Mike Semrad (Sr. - Waukesha) the Titans with three blocks, all in only two games played. The Titans had 15 service aces in the match and hit .493 (50-13-75).
