UW-Oshkosh Releases Names of Committed Players (12-12-11)
UW-Oshkosh, the defending National Collegiate Volleyball Federation Division I champions is pleased to announce that five players have decided to continue their playing careers in a Titans uniform next season.

Commitments to UW-Oshkosh include Travis Hudson from Wauwatosa, Andrew Fricke from Kenosha, Adam Landgraf from Kenosha, Joseph Lesko from New Berlin and Brock Van Deurzen from Appleton.

"It is exciting that these young men have already decided to obtain their education at UW-Oshkosh and to participate on the men's volleyball team," said head coach Brian Schaefer. "Each one of them will impact our team in some way and we look forward to welcoming them into the UW-Oshkosh program."

Hudson, a 6-5 setter, attends Wauwatosa West High School and was coached by Kyle Sikora. As a Trojan, he was named first-team All-Woodland Conference in 2010 and 2011 and capped his prep career by being named honorable mention all-state. A high school teammate of current freshman Mitchell Lahmann, Hudson helped Wauwatosa West to a sectional finals berth in 2009 and 2010. He is also a member of the Trojan baseball team.

Hudson is a member of the North Shore Volleyball Club playing for head coach Brad Kuehl. He is the son of Carol and William Hudson and plans on majoring in athletic training at UW-Oshkosh.

"I choose UW-Oshkosh because it is one of the few schools with volleyball and athletic training," said Hudson. "I feel like I will have a fun time in both the athletic training and volleyball program."

Fricke and Landgraf both hail from Kenosha Tremper High School and both had outstanding careers playing for head coach Curtis Madson. The Trojans won the Southeast Conference in 2011 and reached the sectional finals.

Fricke, a 6-2 outside hitter, was named second-team All-Southeast Conference as well as honorable mention all-state in 2011. He led Kenosha Tremper in kills and was named a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Player of the Week this season. Starting his freshmen year, he has also been a member of the varsity track and field team. Fricke previously played for Southport VBC under the direction of head coach Kyle Klaver.

A member of the National Honor Society, he is the son of John Fricke and is undecided on an intended major.

"I choose UW-Oshkosh because it is a great school," said Fricke. "It has large criminal justice and business departments and also has a volleyball team built on success. I am excited to attend UW-Oshkosh."

Landgraf, a 6-2 setter, was named first-team All-Southeast Conference in 2010 and 2011 and finished his playing career as a member of the honorable mention all-state team. He served as his team's captain his junior and senior year, and was also named team most valuable player both seasons.

A member of the National Honor Society, Landgraf is the son of Kathy and Jim Landraf and plays on pursing accounting at UW-Oshkosh.

"I choose UW-Oshkosh because of the great business program it has to offer," said Landgraf. "I plan on entering the accounting program and after hearing how outstanding the volleyball program is at UW-Oshkosh, I knew the school would be perfect for me."

Both Fricke and Landgraf join current UW-Oshkosh players Nick Mueller and Vincent Odorozzi who also attended Kenosha Tremper High School.

Joseph Lesko, a 6-2 outside hitter, attends Brookfield Central High School and played for head coach Ken Nash. He was a member of the Lancer varsity team all four years of high school and earned varsity letters as a sophomore, junior and senior.

Lesko currently plays for Southwest VBC under the direction of head coach Wade Repavich and previously played for North Shore VBC. He is the son of Lynn and Andy Lesko and plans on majoring in athletic training at UW-Oshkosh.

"The atmosphere really attracted me to UW-Oshkosh," said Lesko. "After the first time I visited I knew I'd fit in well."

Van Deurzen, a 6-0 libero, attends Kimberly High School where he played for co-head coach Ted Vanden Wyngaard and former UW-Oshkosh player and co-head coach Mark Beck. He was a two-year varsity letter winner for the Papermakers.

He is currently playing for Green Bay PoWer VBC under the tutelage of Tony Larocca. He is the son of Tammy and Jay Van Deurzen and is undecided on an intended major. Van Deurzen will follow current UW-Oshkosh stand out Dan Ruys who also attended Kimberly High School.

"I decided to attend UW-Oshkosh because it has great academic and athletic programs," said Van Deurzen. "It is a convenient location and is financially appropriate for my family."

"All five of these commitments have set themselves up to be very successful not only on the volleyball court, but also in the classroom," added Schaefer. "All of them felt like they could succeed in obtaining a degree and that is the number one reason in picking a college."
