Updated Friday, Apr. 11 at 3:00pm CT   The 2005 WVC Alumni Tournament   On April 8th and 9th, 2005 the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh will be hosting the Wisconsin Volleyball Conference State Championships. Last year the alumni tournament didn't happen because the host school couldn't offer enough courts to house both us and the state tournament. That didn't stop a slew of alumni from showing up for the festivities anyway though. This year there will be plenty of room, so an organized function is once again in the works. Tourney: We will be running a luck-of-the-draw 4-man tournament on Saturday, April 9th. No need to find a team, just show up. Players are asked to be at the University at 10:00 am. The location will be at Albee Hall (the old complex). The cost will be $10 a player and that includes a WVC t-shirt. Winners of the tourney will get free cups (see below). Hotel: I recommend staying at the Holiday Inn Express (920-303-1300) because it is only a block from The Bar of Oshkosh, which is where the after tourney party will be held. I think they offer a discount if you ask them about the UW-Oshkosh event rate. Party: The after tourney party will be held at The Bar of Oshkosh. The Bar is located on Washburn Avenue (frontage road) off of Hwy 41 and 21 near the Holiday Inn Express. The Milwaukee based band, The Love Monkeys are playing on the indoor volleyball courts at The Bar on Saturday night as well. There's a $5 cover charge, but if you buy a special cup for $10 (offered during the day at the tourney) you will receive a coupon to get into The Bar and you can drink free Miller beer until supplies run out.
