Tony Goebel Awarded Chancellor's Awards for Excellence (6-11-09)
Former UW-Oshkosh men's volleyball player Tony Goebel was awarded one of ten Chancellor's awards for Excellence. The award was announced at the 2009 commencement ceremony. The award recognizes senior students who exemplify high academic and leadership qualities and a deep commitment to serving others. The criteria for the award include academic performance, University-related service and community involvement. Goebel competed on the UW-Oshkosh men's volleyball team during the 2006 and 2007 seasons as a member of the Division III team. He also was a member of the 2007 Division II team that took third place at the NCCS Division III national championship in Louisville, Kentucky. Goebel will graduate in December of 2009 with a major in marketing. He was the marketing club president and was involved with AmeriCorps, Campus Crusade for Christ, Special Olympics and Young Entrepreneurship Club. Goebel is the president and founder of Fish for Kids. He won the Cooperative Education and Internship Association's Outstanding Intern of the Year award for a marketing internship with the Green Bay Packers.
