UW-Oshkosh II Dominates MIVA Play Date (1-31-17)
The UW-Oshkosh II men’s volleyball team did not drop a set on its way to a perfect 6-0 mark at the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Associate Division II play date held Saturday and Sunday (January 28-29) in Bloomington, Indiana. The Titans currently sit in first place in the conference tied with three other teams that currently have the same record.

UW-Oshkosh II (6-0 / 6-0 MIVA) dominated competition by defeating the University of Michigan II 25-16, 25-14, Hope College 25-10, 25-16, Ball State University II 25-9, 25-12 and Michigan State University II 25-10, 25-17 on Saturday and then sweeping Grand Valley State University II 25-18, 25-13 and the University of Kentucky II 25-22, 25-22 on Sunday.

In the first match of the day on Saturday, Mitch Lahmann (Sr. – Wauwatosa) led the Titans against the Wolverines with seven kills and added four digs and one solo block. Alex Basting (So. – Franklin) provided six kills and two block solos and Jake Martin (So. – New Lenox, Ill.) led the team with seven digs and two service aces. Adam Landgraf (Sr. – Kenosha) dished out 19 assists and added two blocks.

Mike Starzec (Sr. – Buffalo Grove, Ill.) led UW-Oshkosh with five kills and four blocks against the Flying Dutchmen. Landgraf had 16 assists and Lahmann and Ryan Albers (Jr. – Appleton) tallied four kills.

The Titans offense exploded against the Cardinals as the team piled up 29 kills on a .520 hitting percentage. Lahmann once again led the team with eight kills, followed by John Collins (So. – New Berlin) with six, Starzec with five and Albers with four. Landgraf produced 25 assists and Collins also added five digs and two service aces. Braeden Melton (Sr. – Beloit) led the team with two blocks.

In the last match on Saturday against the Spartans, Basting and Lahmann each had seven kills in the rout. Landgraf assisted on 22 of the Titans 24 kills and added three service aces. Starzec topped the team with four blocks and Martin scooped up four digs.

In Sunday’s action Martin tallied a tournament high 10 digs against the Lakers. Lahmann and Melton topped the team with six kills each and Landgraf piled up 16 assists and four service aces. Joe Kuchler (Sr. – Muskego) had four digs, Basting dialed up four kills and two services aces and Starzec had four blocks, including two solo stuffs.

Landgraf achieved his first double-double of the season against the Wildcats with 19 assists and 10 digs. He added five blocks and three kills in the win. Basting slammed down seven kills and Melton added six put aways and three blocks. Martin tallied five digs and Collins had two block solos.
